Orville's Country Biscuits (6 biscuits)     Back to Breads     Printer Friendly Page

Recipe By: Orville
Preparation Time :0:20

To make 12 biscuits     Good Eats Biscuit Making Class

1 1/2 cup flour
2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk

Mix all dry ingredients. Add shortening and cut in with a fork or pastry cutter until well blended. Add the milk and gently mix to form a ball. For lighter fluffier biscuits do not over work the dough. Place dough on a floured surface and roll out to 1/2 inch thick. Use a biscuit cutter to cut biscuits. Place on a baking sheet and bake in 425 degree oven for about 10 minutes or until lighly browned.
