Double Chocolate Cookies     Back to Cookies Menu     Printer Friendly Page

Recipe By Orville
Preparation Time 1:00

Makes about 12 dozen cookies

1 cup butter (2 sticks) -- softened
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups flour
3/4 cup cocoa
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup pecans -- chopped

In a mixing bowl add the softened butter, sugar, and eggs. Beat until smooth. Add vanilla, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and cocoa. Mix completely and then add the flour. Mix until batter is smooth. Mix in the chocolate chips and pecans. Drop dough on an ungreased cookie sheet or one lined with parchment baking paper with a spoon or small ice cream scoop. Bake in a 375 degree oven for about 9 minutes. Do not over cook. They will appear soft and moist. When the cookies show cracks and a rough surface they are done. Remove from oven and let set a couple of minutes and then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely. Excess can be stored in the freezer.
