Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies     Back to Cookies     Printer Friendly Page

1 cup butter (2 sticks) -- softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup cocoa
1 cup brown sugar -- packed
2 eggs
2 cups peanut butter -- creamy or crunchy
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups flour

Cream butter, sugar, cocoa, and eggs. Add peanut butter, salt, baking soda, and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Add flour and mix just enough to incorporate flour into mixture. Do not over mix. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and and then press into cookie shapes. Use a fork and imprint tops of cookies with a crisscross pattern. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Remove from oven and then transfer to cooling racks to cool.

Note: If desired sprinkle tops of cookies with sugar before baking.
