1 cup butter (2 sticks)-- softened
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup cocoa
1 1/4 cups buttermilk
2 cups flour
1/3 cup oil

Cream butter, sugar, and eggs. Add cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Mix until batter is smooth. Add the flour and mix well. Now add the buttermilk and the oil. Mix until batter is smooth. Pour batter into a 13" X 9" pan (1/4 sheet) or 3 9" round cake pans sprayed with cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees until cake tests done. About 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from oven turn out on cooling rack. If desired cool in pan for serving. Frost with desired frosting.
