Recipe By Orville
Preparation Time 0:45

1 cup sugar
3 eggs
5 tablespoons butter -- softened
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Cream butter, sugar, and eggs. Add rest of ingredients and mix until smooth. Pour filling into a partially baked 9" deep dish pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees (about 30 to 40 minutes) untill filling is set and crust is golden brown.

The Nutt House is a restaurant and hotel located on the square in Granbury Texas. I purchased the bakery that supplied all of the breads and pies for the Nutt House in the late 80's and recieved the buttermilk pie recipe in the deal. Every morning, at 11:00 AM the ladies go out on the sidewalk and ring their dinner bells to call all the hungry travelers in for lunch. This buttermilk pie has been served at the restaurant every day since the late 1800's. I hope you enjoy it, as it is one of my all time favorites.
